Back to Basics

It’s a new year and the last one was a tough one. One of the biggest lessons that many people learned in 2020 was the importance of our health. Looking for some basic ways to improve your health this year? Look no further. Here are my top 6 tips for getting back to and maintaining good health!

  1. Move Your Body

    • Moving our bodies daily is so vital for our mental health, our physical strength and for the health of all of our body systems. (sweating is a natural detoxification process!). By getting ourselves moving a little more each day, we are helping our bodies and minds function at their best. Work your way up to 30 minutes of purposeful movement each day.

  2. Be Mindful

    • Pay attention to the present moment in a curious and nonjudgmental way. Practice gratitude daily. This can be done in a simple way by just noting in your mind things that you are grateful for, or in a more formal way, write it down in a gratitude journal! Limit the amount of time you spend consuming media of all forms, including social media. Look for the good!

  3. Hydrate

    • Adequate hydration is essential to good health. Aim for HALF of your body weight in ounces of water each day (ex. if you weigh 100lbs, drink 50 ounces of water each day).

  4. Eat Whole Foods

    • Choose foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. When shopping, stick to the perimeter of the store, that is where the REAL food is. Try the 80/20 rule, 80% of your food should be WHOLE food (vegetables, fruits, meat or unprocessed grains).

  5. Sleep

    • Getting enough sleep is essential for a healthy life. Our body does most of its growing and healing while we sleep. Make sleep a priority in your life. This means it comes BEFORE laundry, dishes, Netflix, etc.

  6. Get Adjusted!!!

    • Your nervous system controls all other systems in your body. Chiropractic adjustments remove interference in the nervous system and help you function at your best. Having a well functioning nervous system AMPLIFIES the effects of all of the other things on this list. Regular chiropractic adjustments are essential to expressing your best health!
